Conviction of Marcus Liddell Wilson for statutory rape

District Attorney Daniella M. Shorter, announced the conviction of Marcus Liddell Wilson for the statutory rape of a fifteen (15) year old Copiah County child. Circuit Court Judge Tomika H. Irving sentenced Wilson to thirty (30) years in the custody of the Mississippi Department of Corrections with twenty (20) years suspended, ten (10) years to serve and followed by five (05) years of supervised probation.


Wilson was also ordered to pay a fine in the amount of $2,500.00, $427.50 in court costs, $150.00 investigative fees to the District Attorney’s Office, and $1,000.00 to the Mississippi Crime Victims Compensation Fund.


Upon his release from prison, Marcus Wilson will be required to register as a sex offender.


According to witness statements, Marcus Liddell Wilson, who was 30 years old at the time of the crime, had sexual intercourse with a fifteen (15) year old girl between February and March of 2021. Mr. Wilson gave a statement to law enforcement where he admitted to having sex with the fifteen (15) year old child, but stated he feel asleep in his truck while the two were talking and when he woke up, she was on top of him.
